Synonyms include Agaricus sessilis, Agaricus variabilis and Crepidotus variabilis.

Widespread (including in Australia) and common.
Their shape and size are very variable depending on the environment.
They are found in colonies on wood and plant debris.

They are small (up to 2 cm), convex, fan or kidney shaped.
The cap is white but darkens to a creamy brown as it ages.
The cap is hairy and the margin may be slightly lobed.
They are almost always sessile (no stalk) being attached by the side of the cap.

The gills are moderately crowded and radiate from the point of attachment.
They are white but darken to yellow-brown when the spores are mature.
Spore prints are yellow-brown.

Cheimonophyllum candidissimum.
Basidiomycota > Agaricomycetes > Agaricales > Cyphellaceae.

Fragile, semi-circular or kidney-shaped caps up to 10 mm across.
Caps are usually white but may be cream or yellowish as they age.
The surface is slightly hairy.

There may or may not be a rudimentary stem centrally or laterally.

The moderately thick gills are white but darken to cream with age.
Their edges are finely fringed.
The spore print is white.
