Zephyranthes candida

Zephyranthes candida.

A widely seen species known as the White Windflower or Storm Lily.

The deep green, shiny leaves are twisted and have a blunt tip.
They are up to 35 cm long by around 3 mm wide.

Inflorescence stalks (scapes) are up to 25 cm high and hold 1 flower.
The base of the up to 4 cm long spathe-like bract sheaths the stem.

Flower stalks are about 1.5 cm long and hold the flower erect.
The 6 slightly spreading tepal lobes are around 4 cm long and free of each other.
Tepals are white and can have a pink tint on the outside.
Plants flower in late summer and into autumn.
